TimberPro Celebrates Expanded Forestry Manufacturing Facility in Shawano, Wisconsin

August 28, 2023 — TimberPro, a manufacturer of forestry equipment, recently completed an $8 million expansion project that added nearly 49,000 square feet to its facility in Shawano, Wisconsin, U.S. The expansion will allow the company to double production capacity, enabling it to meet growing market demand for its equipment and attachments.

To celebrate the project’s completion, TimberPro hosted a public open house on Friday, August 25, for employees, their families and members of the Shawano community. TimberPro was founded by Pat Crawford in 2002. The Crawfords have been involved in the forestry business in Wisconsin for more than 75 years, and in recognition of their contributions, the new expansion was dedicated to the family.

"Our facility expansion represents a significant step forward for TimberPro, and we were glad to be able to showcase our enhanced capabilities to the community,” said Doug Morris, VP, Forest Machine Business Division, Komatsu. “Forestry is very important to the Wisconsin economy, and this expansion will enable us to provide more good family-supporting jobs, while also allowing us to enhance our research and development capabilities and significantly increase our production.”

According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the forest products industry provides more than 61,000 full- and part-time jobs in Wisconsin and has a total industry output of $24.4 billion. To help support regional jobs and the regional supply chain, TimberPro sources materials from many companies in northern Wisconsin.

With its expanded operation, TimberPro currently has several new job openings for those seeking career opportunities in the rewarding equipment manufacturing industry. Applicants interested in applying should call 847-437-5800 or visit https://komatsu.jobs.

Tackle demanding forestry processing environments with the Komatsu PC230F-11

September 6, 2022 — Your forestry crews need equipment that can deliver exceptional performance in difficult environments. Control downtime and drive productivity with the robust, dependable and fuel-efficient Komatsu PC230F-11 processor. Delimb and cut and stack timber with this powerful and maneuverable processor, designed specifically to meet the demands of forestry work.

Large trees can be moved more easily thanks to a powerful swing system and a large swing circle. With exceptional reach of up to 29 feet (8,951 mm), the excellent maneuverability of the PC230F-11 helps drive productivity.

Designed with a high and wide undercarriage, powerful swing motor and ability to withstand high-debris conditions, the PC230F-11 is backed by excellent service, easy access to parts and an industry-leading warranty. Built to tackle demanding forestry processing environments, the PC230F-11 has exceptional reach, a high and wide rugged undercarriage and a powerful swing system.

Quick specs for the PC230F-11

  • Net horsepower: 197 HP (147kW) @ 2,050 rpm

  • Operating weight: 67,516 lbs. (30,625 kg)

  • Swing torque: 58,334 ft.-lbs. (8,065 kg-m)

Engineered for high-debris environments

When operators are working in high-debris conditions, the robust wide-fin radiator is protected by heavy-duty forestry screens and a variable pitch reversing fan helps improve airflow.

Offering excellent ground clearance, the PC230F-11, provides reliable maneuverability in tough forestry environments thanks to a high and wide undercarriage designed with larger class-size components.

Operators can adjust quickly to a sudden change in load weight without losing productivity with the Auto Power Max feature. It automatically senses the difference and reacts with a seven-second burst of additional horsepower to help pull the trees through, during the delimbing process.

Operator comfort supports productivity

To reduce operator fatigue, the PC230F-11 provides a quiet, comfortable work environment. Cabs are climate-controlled and equipped with Bluetooth technology. The cushioned air-suspension seat can be heated or cooled.

An extra-rugged exterior protects against falling limbs with a 1.26 inch-thick (32 mm) polycarbonate front window and metal designed to withstand demanding environments. The PC230F-11 features heavy-duty service undercover guards and rear compartment doors, and a right corner guard with a standard tree deflector.

Less refueling

The Komatsu SAA6D107E-3 Tier 4 Final engine is more fuel efficient than the prior Tier 4 interim engines. Thanks to proprietary Komatsu engine technology, the larger size-class (PC290LL-11) factory-installed engine also powers performance.

Your operators can spend more time on the job and less time refueling with the additional fuel storage on the PC230F-11. The tank is in the rear of the carrier and built into the counterweight, delivering double the fuel capacity. Because the fuel tank was moved to the rear, there is a large tool storage area on the side for the operator to store an extra five-gallon bucket of oil, extra chains and other tools.

Komatsu’s New 901XC 8WD Harvester is a Thinning Powerhouse for Challenging Steep, Rough or Soft Terrain

Komastsu2.jpg

Chattanooga, Tenn., April 3, 2020 — Komatsu’s new 901XC (eXtreme Conditions) 8WD harvester excels in challenging steep, rough or soft harvesting environments. The 901XC has all of the market-leading features found in Komatsu’s proven 901-6WD harvester platform, including the innovative, 3PS three-pump hydraulic system, best-in-class ergonomic cab, 4-way cab/crane leveling, and ±180° cab/crane rotation.

Unique Komatsu 8WD System : Komatsu’s 901XC differs from other 8WD harvesters because of its unique drive system. Its exclusive “double Comfort Bogie” drive system provides excellent handling and follows the terrain more closely than competitors’ 8WD machines that have a fixed rear-axle design. The 8WD system generates 12% more tractive effort and significantly reduces rear ground pressure: 53% lower psi with tracks and 19% lower psi with tires, compared to the 901-6WD model.

Performance & Productivity: The 901XC shares all the same market-leading features as the Komatsu 901, 911, 931, 931XC and 951 harvesters, including Komatsu’s innovative, 3PS three-pump hydraulic system, for higher hydraulic working flow at low engine speeds, while lowering fuel consumption. The system allows the operator to simultaneously slew, feed and maneuver. These hydraulic system interactions are all automatically controlled by Komatsu’s new MaxiXT control and information system.

The range of available Komatsu harvesting heads includes the S92, C93 and C124 designed to meet specific application needs. The 901XC is ideally suited for the rugged Komatsu C124 “carry-style” head, which has four powerful motors and four heavy-duty driven feed rollers.

Operator Comfort & Convenience: The premium, modern cab provides the operator with excellent upward and downward front line-of-sight visibility. Sixteen powerful LED working lights provide excellent illumination, for improved visibility in low light conditions. An air suspension, air-vented seat, fully adjustable ergonomic armrests and hand controls, and an automatic, 4-season climate control system, keep the operator comfortable in all working conditions.

Serviceability: All daily maintenance checks and fills can be performed at ground level or from inside the cab. The highly-functional machine design includes a one-piece hood that opens rearward to fully expose the entire engine compartment for easy service access. An automatic central lubrication system and well-placed front, rear, cab and hydraulic tank service platforms further facilitate machine serviceability. All filters are vertically mounted to ease replacement and minimize the potential for spills.
